Cpu Spiking

Well my cpu usage is spiking really bad how can i found out what i causing this problem i went to task manager and the only thing that is using any thing is "system" thats whats spiking from 0 - 80% all the time

please help

Can you take a screenshot of your processes window in task manager so I can see exactly what you have running?

Check for a worm virus. They are notorious for spiking out cpu usage. Go Here (http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/tools.list.html) and read the notes and download the removal tools for the worms.

well i found the problem after reading madmaxes post on fps it worked but what i cant fig out is why without the game going my system was still spiking really bad and vipers help with some things also got it working

IT was the 10-28-2003 update that did it

\Steam\SteamApps\user@user.de\count... is the 3dfx*.dll file and a text file

in your windows\system32 folder is the current opengl file which you now copy to the cs open gl folder as stated above
NOTE:
use the correct dll file

- Detonator User: nvoglnt.dll

- Standard User: opengl32.dll

- Ati User: atioglxx.dll

now edit the text file drvmap.txt to this
Default Default
gldrv/opengl32.dll OpenGL Driver

NOTE opengl32.dll should be replaced with the dll file you copied for your graphics card
